Personnel classified as a Personnel Assistant II are subject to assignment within the areas of Personnel Records, Personnel Actions, Personnel Automations, Retirement Services, Transition Services, Personnel Management and Deployment/Redeployment. The clerical/administrative duties of these personnel vary significantly based on the specific tasks and work center assigned. As such, personnel must demonstrate an ability to grasp new concepts and processes as well as be multi-tasked capable. They typically provide information to the serviced population regarding personnel policies, directives, and procedures necessary to fulfill the requirements of their assigned tasks.
PA-II may be asked to gather information and assist with the preparation of statistical and other reports for presentation to managers under short deadlines for internal or external use. They may provide technical guidance to General Clerks and assist in the preparation of training as well as lead training sessions as directed. Using established/defined criteria, they prepare, analyze, monitor, and verify documents/records crucial to soldiers careers and the successful execution of the Military Personnel Divisions mission.
While PA-II performs additional duties as assigned; some of the typical duties include, but are limited to those examples depicted below:
- Provide casualty services to primary next-of-kin for dependents in the serviced area of responsibility.
- Receive retirement applications, verify eligibility, process waivers, ensure completion of Survivor Benefit Plan elections, and support Retirement Ceremonies.
- Determine dependent ID Card eligibility, issue CACs, and enroll/disenroll personnel in DEERS.
- Screen enlistment contracts and documents to ensure the accuracy of ATRRS by updating data, as required.
- Screen EDAS reports for soldiers that meet promotion cut-off scores and verify eligibility.
- Requisition, report, and process personnel actions for assigned drill sergeants.
- Maintain Military Personnel File (MPF) accountability by controlling access to, conducting inventories, transferring files to other agencies, and creating a new MPF when required.
- Process personnel classification, reclassification, and award or withdrawal action.
- Respond to inquiries and provide assistance to retirees, family members, former spouses, and annuitants on information regarding SBP, retiree benefits, Defense Retiree and Annuitant Pay System, and etc. Qualifications: Two years increasing experience in a high volume administrative work center, preferably with the U.S., State, or Local Government. Must demonstrate proven organizational skills and communicate clearly orally and in written form. Resume must relay a quality of experience related to the position (s) applied for. Prior USA military having held Military Occupation Specialty 42A, a derivative of Primary Military Occupational Specialties.
- (PMOS), 75B, 75C, 75D, 75E, 75F, and 71L.
Knowledge: U.S Army Personnel Regulations, Manuals, and Systems. Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to successfully perform the work with some supervision.
Training: MS Windows operating environment and applications. Must possess a minimum of 2 years experience in Military Automation Systems and PC operations.
Education: Must possess a minimum of 1 year of college. Education may be substituted for experience on a 2:1 basis.
