Personnel classified as General Clerk III are subject to assignments within the areas of Personnel Records, Personnel Actions, Personnel Automations, Retirement Services, Transition Services, Personnel Management, Deployment and Redeployment. The clerical/administrative duties of these personnel vary significantly based on the specific tasks and work center assigned. They typically provide information to the serviced population regarding personnel policies, directives, and procedures necessary to fulfill the requirements of their assigned tasks. GC-III may be asked to run the customer service desks, make distribution runs, schedule appointments and type military and non-military correspondence. Using established/defined criteria, they prepare and verify documents/records crucial to soldiers' careers and the successful execution of the Military Personnel Division's mission. GC-III perform additional duties as assigned.
Some of the typical duties include, but are not limited to the examples depicted below:
- Prepares Temporary Change of Station Orders (TCS).
- Prepares Permanent Change of Station Orders (PCS).
- Responsible for in and out-processing of soldiers, the accountability and maintenance of Military Personnel Files (MPF), and other records in the functional area assigned.
- Determines and notifies Enlisted and Officer Personnel on promotion eligibility.
- Prepares and distributes Enlisted and Officer Promotion Orders.
- Processes Enlisted and Officer Reassignments notifications.
- Processes requests for OCONUS leave and travel clearances.
- Maintains Orders utilizing the orders log.
- Conducts desk-side briefings.
Experience: Six months experience in a fast-paced office environment, in which candidate demonstrated the ability to provide quality customer service. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all facets of a military community, orally and in writing.
Knowledge: Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to successfully perform the work with supervision.
Training: MS Windows operating environment and applications. Applicants should be detail-oriented and adaptable. Prior military personnel experience a plus.
