Provide expertise in the development in Microsoft Office 2007 applications with experience in both desktop applications with possible server/client use so the users can better utilize the MS Office applications and develop better workflow practices. Current uses of Excel spreadsheets and Access databases are disjointed and individually developed and used by department rather than providing more integration or coordination of data usage. Macro development is rudimentary and basic and needs to be developed to better understand or mine the data available. Better development, programming and integration of our Office applications would provide better, more complex extraction, reporting and analysis of our data, ease of use for users, and better of integration of our applications.
Assist the Customer Service Division and coordinate with Help Desk requests to determine where assistance may be needed to better utilize the tools built into the Microsoft Office applications and where custom tools, macro’s or programming may be developed. Conduct user training as required for all customizations, applications and programs developed.
After each program, application or customization is complete, the system shall be tested by contractor and the customer to ensure that all the applications are working properly and that all input and data sources can be properly used and give correct results.
Technical training may be required to be given to the customers/users on the operation of the applications, programming or tools generated including any maintenance procedures and programming needed to use these tools, applications or programs.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Developer should have expertise in the following areas:
• Professionalizing Excel models (adding navigation, making formatting consistent, applying styles, adding data validation, streamlining the work-process within the model).
• Building sophisticated and user-friendly Excel templates for modeling and data entry.
• Writing professional VBA code to automate tasks within our projects.
• Salvaging problematic workbooks: Getting rid of corruptions, removing excess formatting, recovering from crashes.
• Enabling Spreadsheet models to communicate with database applications to fetch data from and/or updating data to them along with producing custom reporting systems.
• Developing Excel add-ins tailored to the customers’ needs.
• Developing and/or refining Database systems, customizing Access applications.
• Upsizing Access databases to SQL Server.
• Programming MS Outlook for better interface with other Microsoft Office applications with possible connections into Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007.
