Our internships grow your skillset with opportunities of focus in a variety of areas including: field operations and management, scheduling, estimating, mechanical/electrical/pluming, and quality management. 




  




Responsibilities 




Learn from the best. Potential job functions based on internship type may include:  




Use Google Earth to generate Civil and Electrical layouts for projects to be used as basis of bid. 




Generate quantity takeoff using Google Earth 




Assemble cost comparison spreadsheets using Excel 




Assist in scope alignment discussions with trade partners  




Ensure completion of changes discussed in estimate reviews. 






Work with project team and estimating leadership to determine trade partner strategy and prepare invitation to bid / budget to guarantee complete pricing coverage. Assisting with subcontractor coordination meetings and correspondence 




Assist with cost modeling, value analysis and target value delivery as needed and directed by estimating leadership 




Supporting preparation and evaluation of bid packages 




Utilize cost history to inform scope, pricing, productivities, etc. Handling material procurement 




Work with project team to determine site logistic and schedule requirements and prepare general requirements estimate.

Get ready to go places and jump-start your career through our distinguished national internship program. You will have the opportunity to join the Wind Operating Group based out of our Golden Valley, Minnesota headquarters. 




   




Additional Information: 




You will join an exciting and ever-changing industry with a part-time internship during the academic school year and a minimum 12-week full-time internship with our team during Summer (May – August 2025).  Placement with one of our teams will be provided based on the overall needs of the organization.

Currently working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field 




Were selected as a recipient of the Mortenson Pathway Scholarship 




Are willing to be mobile/relocate 




Have access to reliable transportation 




Possess a current driver’s license 




Are comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and a trailer office environment 






  




Preferred Qualifications:

Have previous related internship experience 




Have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 / 4.0 




Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior  




Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple tasks 




Possess the right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer 




Have a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices 




Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative 




Showcase a positive and professional attitude and solid customer service skills 




  




The hourly wage for college Interns starts at $19.50. Students in their sophomore year of college, or more, are paid higher wages based on their year in school.  




  




Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
