The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is excited to announce an opportunity to serve as an Assistant Audit Director in our Assurance and Compliance Office.
Core Responsibilities:
Audit Compliance - Direct the development of and approve departmental policies and procedures manuals to ensure compliance with applicable and/or required standards. Support the Office of the Inspector General when requested. Assess adequacy of corrective actions planned or taken. Assure management is aware of the risk of noncompliance.
Audit Performance - Direct and supervise the performance of a variety of audits, which may include financial, compliance, automated data processing, operational and program audits and any other audit activity as management may request. Demonstrate support and sensitivity for VDOT's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Program and monitor accomplishments of program objectives.
Budget - Establish and maintain administrative budget in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth and established policy and procedures. Maintain a record of all budget modifications and associated approvals as required. Evaluate budget utilization, spending patterns and request adjustments.
Contract and Report Management - Analyze and provide advice to VDOT's contract negotiator on the acceptability of proposed cost as it relates to state and federal guidelines and good business principles. Participate in consultant coordinating committees to develop guidelines that prepare VDOT's contract negotiators to work with the contractor. Review reports with the District and Division Administrator and determine corrective action. Provide quarterly status reports to the Inspector General.

VDOT is an emergency operation agency. Positions physically working within Central Office locations may be designated upon request and coordination among the respective District Engineer or Administrator and Chief. Assignments are updated annually. Not all designated employees are provided an emergency operations assignment.
Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth telework policy.
