Position DescriptionAssistant Project Manager/PROJECT ENGINEER- 

Reports to and assists the Project Manager

Coordinates and assists Project Superintendent

Seeking a Project Engineer that will provide analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues while interacting with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality. This position is based in our Torrance Headquarters office.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Projects for this role AT THIS TIME are primarily located in California and the Western US, particularly in Southern California, officing in the MBI Torrance Headquarters.  Future locations will follow market opportunities nationwide. Travel may be involved.
  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and trade/craft persons
  • Implement pre-construction strategic plan
  • Obtain and maintain construction permits, manage fee payments
  • Develop and maintain Logs as required by Project Manager and MBI Policies
  • Manage, create, distribute and file records of certain contract documents
  • Establish procedures for electronic documents, including RFIs and correspondence
  • Manage, record and file testing and inspection processes
  • Manage submittals, ensure material deliveries align with project schedule
  • Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders, update as-built construction documents
  • Build relationships across diverse backgrounds, lead and coach team members effectively

 

Ideal Candidate for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Minimum two years of related experience in HOSPITALITY projects
  • Current driver's license
  • Detail-oriented to manage multiple project tasks
  • Basic understanding of construction legal requirements and business practices
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Intermediate Procore, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and web application skills,
  • Ability to interpret and communicate McGuire Builder’s policies
  • Active listening and effective communication, openness to diverse feedback
  • Ability to travel to Project Sites on occasion
  • Proximity to office for ease of commutes to regular workplace assignment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Range commensurate with Experience  $90k-$120k

Performance Bonus commensurate with annual evaluation

  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

 

Schedule:

  • 8:30- 5:00
  • Monday to Friday

Weekends as needed for Projects Under Construction
