The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as a Business Coordinator in the Central Office’s Civil Rights Division!
This position will work the BOWD Center, located at 6000 Elko Tract Road, Sandston, Virginia, 23150.
This challenging and rewarding position’s specific responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to:
Budget Monitoring – Monitor Disadvantaged Enterprise (DBE) and Supportive Services (SS) projects budgets. Prepares required monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Division and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as required. Maintains DBE client database for tracking and reporting client activity in program. Assist in developing assigned budget. Supply projected costs, monitor expenditures and prepare financial status reports.
Marketing and Outreach - Plans workshops, trainings, meetings at supervisor directions. Market the BOWD Program at outreach events. Delivers and monitors supportive services to DBEs and firms seeking DBE certification. Assist with the National Summer Transportation Institute Program.
Accounting - Ensure payments for goods and services are processed in compliance with policies and procedures. Maintain accounting records and files. Analyze financial transactions, verify payment documents and perform data reconciliations
Procurement - Provides fiscal and procurement Support in accordance with VDOTs SWaM initiative. Manage document development from proposal to contract level using the most up-to-date copied notes, specifications. Prepare requisitions and purchase orders for goods and services in compliance with established policies and procedures. Procure items from state contract and resolve billing discrepancies. Review procurement records to ensure financial activities comply with state and VDOT requirements.
Program Analysis and Reporting - Research and compile data and prepare reports or presentations for a variety of programs or projects.
Business and Administrative Support - Provide administrative support services to assigned program area.
Records Management - Organize and maintain records for assigned program area per established retention schedules and policies. Receives and manages DBE forms to ensure they are correct and arrive promptly; enters each advertised project information into eVA.

VDOT is an emergency operation agency. Positions physically working within Central Office locations may be designated upon request and coordination among the respective District Engineer or Administrator and Chief. Assignments are updated annually. Not all designated employees are provided an emergency operations assignment.
