Concrete Estimator - Job Description

Position Summary:
The Concrete Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for concrete construction projects, including foundations, slabs, structural concrete, and site work. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine material quantities, labor requirements, equipment needs, and overall project costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand scope and requirements
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and related components
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals
• Analyze labor productivity, material costs, and equipment rates
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and clients to clarify scope and pricing
• Maintain updated cost databases and historical pricing information
• Ensure estimates are completed on time and align with company standards

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in concrete estimating or construction estimating
• Strong knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and industry standards
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage, ProEst)
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Effective communication and negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil concrete projects
• Background in field operations or hands-on concrete work
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)

Work Environment:

• Office-based with occasional site visits
• Fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
