Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical/Plumbing Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. This position requires a strong understanding of construction management and estimating processes, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively with contractors and suppliers. Must be able to meet federal requirements in order to obtain and maintain DOE site access.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand project requirements and scope.
  • Utilize software tools such as McCormick, Procore, and Microsoft Project for efficient estimating and project management.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information on project conditions and requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best possible rates.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new projects.
  • Monitor project budgets throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to estimated costs.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and practices with emphasis on experience working on industrial mechanical and plumbing projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, particularly McCormick.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Solid understanding of project management processes within a construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost assessments.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
