Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits An established manufacturing firm in the Salem, Ohio area to recruit an experienced Electrical Controls Technician. Working alongside Controls Engineers, Process Engineers, and project teams, you will support the design, implementation, commissioning, and servicing of complex industrial control and automation systems. This role offers a dynamic balance of office-based engineering support and customer-facing field work, making it ideal for a hands-on technical professional looking to advance their career in industrial automation. Responsibilities Assist engineering and execution teams with the development and design of control systems for galvanizing/annealing lines, roller hearths, and heat treat furnaces. Draw, modify, and update electrical schematics, panel layouts, and installation documentation using AutoCAD Electrical in compliance with company standards and electrical codes. Assist with PLC and HMI configuration, connection troubleshooting, software uploads/downloads, and minor logic/HMI screen edits. Develop and maintain technical project documentation, including motor lists, component lists, I/O lists, logic drawings, functional descriptions, and drawing redlines. Provide hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting support for electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems during in-house testing and on-site field startups. Perform site studies, attend customer meetings, and provide both remote and on-site field support. Requirements Associate Degree (AS) in Engineering, Electronic Technology, or equivalent hands-on industry experience. Minimum 35 years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical manufacturing. Proven proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical for drafting and a solid understanding of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI platforms. Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols, including Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, and Modbus. Advanced ability to read, interpret, and reverse-engineer electrical schematics, control drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Familiarity with NFPA 79, UL508A, NEC, and standard industrial electrical practices. Basic understanding of industrial control processes, including closed-loop control, cascade control, and PV switching. Ability to travel up to 25% to customer sites as required; must hold a valid passport or have the ability to obtain one.
