This internship with our Environmental team will grow your skillset with opportunities of focus in a variety of areas including: environmental compliance, pre-construction planning, field operations, and quality management.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Championing Mortenson's zero injury safety requirements.
- Supporting Mortenson’s environmental, construction management, and self-perform teams.
- Developing environmental orientation and training programs and materials.
- Conducting work site environmental inspections.
- Selecting best management practices for environmental management and compliance.
- Collaborating with teams in preconstruction and pre-installation meetings as well as environmental incident analysis and response.
- Completing research on current environmental rules and regulations applicable to the construction industry.
- Providing summary communications to teams and individuals.
- Supporting environmental due diligence, permitting, and the evaluation of requests for proposals and bid packages.
- Assisting with environmental plan preparation, review, and submission.
- Partnering with teams to determine construction sequencing and schedule maintenance.
- Communicating with subcontractors via coordination meetings, calls, and email correspondence.
- Utilizing industry-leading technology and software to assist in construction processes.
- Consulting with subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Handling material procurement.
- Participating in architect and owner interaction.

- Are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, or other related degree.
- Are comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and a trailer office environment
- Possess the right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Have a basic understanding of environmental law and generally accepted business practices
- Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative
- Showcase a positive and professional attitude and solid customer service skills
- Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple tasks

- Have previous related internship experience
- Have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 / 4.0
- Are willing to be mobile/relocate
