Diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment related to construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment of all types and in varied locations.
How you will contribute:
Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose vehicle, equipment or asset failures using electronic testing equipment, service and equipment repair manuals and on-line resources. Recommend outsourcing for major repairs when needed.
Emergency Operations: Prepare equipment for emergency operations. Make equipment repairs to reduce downtime during emergency operations to include on-the-road repairs.
Information Processing and Paperwork: Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate, complete and close-out work orders in computer system. Perform time and leave entry. Prepare parts requests. Complete paperwork for warranty inspections and repairs.
Perform Repair Work: Perform repairs and overhauls to all types of automobiles, equipment and tools to include engines, transmissions, driveline components, electrical and computer systems, fuel injection systems, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic components and air brakes.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment or assets according to PM schedule and guidelines. Make repairs as needed when deficiencies are found or recommend outsourcing.
Virginia State Inspections: Perform safety inspections under the guidelines of the Virginia State Police Inspection program for vehicles and equipment.
Welding Repair and Fabrication: Design, fabricate, modify, and weld components to repair, rebuild, or replace parts.

Knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication operations.
Knowledge of general shop procedures.
Knowledge of the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automotive, construction and maintenance equipment.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
Skill in the use of hand and power tools and advanced electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of diesel and gasoline trucks and equipment.
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
Ability to obtain Virginia State Inspection License within 12 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
Ability to operate various types of light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.

Safety shoes required.

Additional Considerations:
A combination of training, experience, or education in Automative Repair, Maintenance or related field desired.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
Experience repairing and maintaining a variety of automotive and construction equipment.
Experience using cutting and welding equipment.
Virginia State Inspection License - Class A
