Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Highly motivated, self starter with 5+ years experience in Estimating.
  • Collaborates with other Estimator to analyze project requirements and specifications.
  • Assists in preparing accurate cost estimates for materials, labor & equipment.
  • Conducts research to gather data on material costs, subcontractor quotes and other relevant information.
  • Reviews project drawings and documents to identify scope of work and project constraints.
  • Prepare bid proposals and documentations for submission to clients.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subs and internal teams to gather necessary information.
  • Maintain an organized record of estimates, bids, and related documentation.
  • Analyze and review construction documents: plans, addendums and specifications. 
  • Identify scope of work and perform quantity takeoffs of site and civil work.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on time.
  • Attend pre-bid site meetings during bidding process to learn scope of work and understand site conditions/restrictions.
  • Obtain bidders list for projects that have been scoped and estimated.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including all administrative tasks and sites involved on the project.
  • Administers insurance and bonding requirements to meet proposal and bid requirements.
  • Edit and compose routine and advanced correspondence, presentations and/or reports.
  • Stay updates on industry trends, pricing and construction methods.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of estimating processes.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Company policies, procedures, state and federal laws.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

  • Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field; 5 or more years of estimating experience; or equivalent combination of the two.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to interact effectively and present information in both written and verbal form with management, clients and staff.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.  This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sage Estimating software and Plan Swift software.
