Role Summary:
The General Manager will be responsible for achieving planned growth, profitability, recurring service revenue, and customer retention goals through strong leadership, operational oversight, and team development. This role requires expertise in building automation systems, controls project delivery, service operations, and sales strategy, ensuring all commitments are met efficiently and to the highest standards.
Project Type:
- Building automation and controls projects (BAS/BMS)
- Controls service agreements and preventive maintenance programs
- System upgrades, integrations, and retrofits
- New market development and account expansion
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop controls engineering, project management, service, and sales teams to meet annual growth, profit, and retention targets
- Oversee controls project execution and service agreement performance to ensure high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective delivery
- Establish and implement pricing, purchasing, and budgetary policies aligned with controls projects and service work
- Direct sales strategy development, training, and execution to achieve bookings and recurring revenue goals
- Manage contract escalation and renewal strategies to maximize customer retention while maintaining profitability
- Monitor billing, collections, and cash flow to optimize financial performance
- Foster strong internal collaboration and maintain productive external relationships with customers, vendors, manufacturers, and integration partners
- Ensure compliance with company policies, EEO laws, cybersecurity standards, and safety regulations
- Develop and execute annual business plans, market penetration strategies, and vertical-specific growth initiatives
- Provide guidance on field productivity, workforce utilization, scheduling, and resource planning
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in building automation, controls, electrical systems, or related industry leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of building automation systems, controls architectures, and service agreements
- Proven track record in sales strategy, operations management, and team leadership
- Experience with budgeting, pricing, and P&L management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass background/drug screening
