Junior Project Manager / Carpenter Foreman

The Junior Project Manager / Carpenter Foreman oversees day-to-day construction activities on residential job sites, leading field crews and coordinating subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard of craftsmanship. This role manages site operations, enforces safety and quality standards, interprets plans and specifications, and serves as a key liaison between the field, project management, and other stakeholders on new single-family home builds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities on residential job sites for new single-family home builds.
  • Coordinate and manage crew members, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep work progressing smoothly.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and local building codes.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, owners, and inspectors to align on project requirements and expectations.
  • Schedule and sequence work to maintain project timelines and minimize delays.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide construction activities.
  • Inspect work regularly to ensure high standards of craftsmanship and adherence to quality expectations.
  • Identify and resolve issues, deficiencies, or conflicts promptly to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain and manage punch lists, ensuring timely completion of all outstanding items.
  • Enforce job site safety standards and OSHA regulations at all times.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment on the job site.
  • Coordinate material deliveries with the project manager to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Manage tools and equipment, ensuring proper use, care, and maintenance.
  • Train, mentor, and lead crew members to develop their skills and performance.
  • Assign tasks to crew members and monitor productivity and workmanship.
  • Maintain positive morale, clear communication, and accountability among all on-site personnel.
  • Use basic computer skills to outline project needs and communicate information as required.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, project managers, and occasionally clients to provide updates and address questions.

Essential Skills

  • Strong carpentry skills with hands-on experience in residential construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of the residential construction process from start to finish.
  • Proficiency in framing, concrete work, and finish carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors, project managers, and clients.
  • Ability to enforce and uphold job site safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Capability to supervise and lead crews effectively on active construction sites.
  • Basic computer skills to outline project needs and support job-related documentation.

Work Environment

This role is based on active new build single-family home construction sites. You will work primarily outdoors and in partially completed structures, overseeing framing, concrete, and finish carpentry activities. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring regular movement around the job site and close coordination with crews, subcontractors, and suppliers. Safety standards and OSHA regulations guide daily operations, and maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free site is a core expectation. Basic computer use is part of the role for outlining project needs and communicating with the project team.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Cloud, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
