Position Overview

Schmidt Architects is seeking a talented and licensed Architect to join our growing team in

Oregon. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who is passionate about thoughtful

design, technical excellence, and collaborative project delivery. The successful candidate will

lead projects through all phases of design and construction while working closely with clients,

consultants, and internal teams.

We are looking for an architect who combines creativity with strong technical expertise and

thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead architectural projects from programming and conceptual design through

construction administration

Prepare and coordinate design drawings, construction documents, specifications, and

permit submissions

Manage project schedules, budgets, and consultant coordination

Interface directly with clients, contractors, jurisdictions, and stakeholders

Ensure projects comply with Oregon building codes, zoning regulations, accessibility

standards, and life safety requirements

Conduct site visits, field observations, and construction administration activities

Mentor junior staff and support collaborative studio culture

Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil consultants

Participate in design presentations, client meetings, and business development efforts

Support quality control and maintain technical accuracy across project documentation

Qualifications

Licensed Architect in the State of Oregon/Washington required, California additionally preferred

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program

5+ years of professional architectural experience preferred

Strong knowledge of Oregon building codes and permitting processes

Experience managing projects through all phases of design and construction

Proficiency in Revit required

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft

Office preferred

Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience is a plus

Preferred Experience

Commercial, civic, mixed-use, healthcare, education, or multifamily project experience

Construction administration and consultant coordination experience

Experience presenting directly to clients and public agencies

Familiarity with urban planning, adaptive reuse, or workplace design strategies
