DHI Communities is a multifamily development division of D.R. Horton, Inc.

DHI Communities is currently looking for a Multifamily-Land Acquisition Associate. The right candidate will play a pivotal role in our land acquisition processes. Responsibilities include overseeing activities related to land acquisition and entitlements, coordinating with development and design departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist in planning and directing land acquisition and entitlement activities for future apartment construction


• Source and assist in underwriting land acquisition opportunities


• Collaborate with division leadership to assess new development viability


• Build and create relationships with brokers, landowners, agents, attorneys, and city officials to facilitate the acquisition of land


• Negotiate property acquisitions and coordinate with legal staff to assist in finalizing land contracts with acceptable terms


• Create documentation, reports, and analysis to support buying/not buying decision for the project


• Assist development staff post-closing to address issues and obtain municipal approvals


• Assist in preparing financial projections, zoning, and permitting activities


• Aid in establishing project timelines


• Establish and maintain communication and progress with local officials, brokers, consultants, etc.


• Participate in decision making process regarding product, mix, parking, and design


• Conduct all business professionally and ethically to enhance customer relations and company goodwill


• Ability to travel overnight

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related degree from a four-year college or university


• Two plus years in related experience and/or training


• Proficient in advanced Excel Financial Modeling


• Proficient in Adobe


• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form or via DRH applications


• Proficiency with MS Office and email


• Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision and peripheral vision


• The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Multifamily land sales preferred
