Summary 


The General Laborer - Pallet Sorter is responsible for sorting wooden pallets by hand, separating damaged pallets, and assessing the quality of unfinished pallets among other similar responsibilities. The Pallet Sorter is an entry level position that we use to fill higher paying piece rate positions that can earn more than $30.00/hr and involve building, repairing, and dismantling pallets. High performers will be offered positions in these areas as they become available.


Responsibilities and Expectations 



  • 100% hand sort of mixed stacks of pallets

  • Separate damaged pallets from ready to go pallets

  • Identify the difference between pallet grades and separate them accordingly


Experience and Qualifications  



  • Must be able to lift, pull, and push wooden pallets that can weigh more than 50lbs continuously for an 8 hour shift

  • Must be comfortable working in a labor-intensive manufacturing environment 

  • Must be able to stand, lift, twist, and move for long periods of time

  • Understands basic ergonomic principles involved in safe lifting

  • Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures

  • Reliable Transportation to and from work

  • Ability to work a full 40 hour a week schedule without disruption

  • Ability to work in extreme conditions to include, but not limited to, elements, heat, cold, and air particulate   

  • The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, walk and use hands to handle, feel and reach.

  • The noise level in the work environment depends on location, hearing protection is required.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at several locations, safety shoes)  

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.  

  • Must have a good sense of balance & good eye-hand-foot coordination
