VDOT is seeking an wage (part-time) Permit Technician for the Farmville Residency


Job Duties


This is an hourly/wage position, limited to 1500 hours per cycle year with an average of 29 hours per week. No State/Medical benefits provided.


The wage (part-time) Permit Technician position serves as the program support to ensure permit applications, fees, sureties, street acceptance and requests are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Provide administrative and technical support to include coordinating workflow, maintaining files, preparing reports and assemblies, entering and tracking data and processing information related to the permitting process.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Knowledge of permitting automated management system functionality.

  • Ability to compile, coordinate and prepare reports.

  • Knowledge of applicable policies and practices.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and communicate information.

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Ability to research, gather and analyze data.

  • Skill in the use of computers and software including web-based and word processing software applications.


Additional Considerations



  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Permitting or related field desired.

  • Knowledge of permitting and street acceptance process.

Valid driver’s license. References, work history, and professional certifications will be verified.
