D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Project Engineer of Vidler Water. The right candidate will provide assistance to the engineering department with technical engineering operations within the assigned areas of water, water rights, land development, and general engineering. Perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare requests for proposals for consulting services, review plans for consulting engineers and private contractors
- Review and provide input to right-of-way agreements, professional services agreements, and cooperative project agreements with other agencies and entities
- Calculate the quantity, quality, and cost of materials; prepare plans and specifications related to assigned projects
- Coordinate the construction inspection of projects; ensure conformance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- Participate in water right acquisition/disposition and related permitting matters
- Work with management and technical staff on the development of water assets including exploration techniques, methods, and resource data analysis
- Work with management on zoning, parceling, and development of land assets
- Work with management and legal team on legal matters relating to company projects and assets
- Ensure project compliance with federal, state, and local rules, laws and regulations
- Coordinate phases of major construction projects and prepare progress reports
- Assist with comprehensive engineering studies and prepare reports with appropriate recommendations
- Verify engineering design computations and check, design, and prepare engineering plans
- Review third party engineering plans and specifications
- Perform technical research and solve difficult engineering problems
- Analyze engineering and non-engineering problems, identify alternative solutions, and present solutions
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive records and prepare technical reports and recommendations
- Prepare and assist with administration of a project budget
- Coordinate activities related to the maintenance of water rights records for corporate water assets
- Oversee records of ownership of water resources, land, and easements
- Oversee and administer state required monitoring reports
- Represent the company and give presentations at public meetings
- Maintain current knowledge of recent developments, current literature, and sources of information regarding general civil engineering
- Retain current knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to travel overnight
