General Description


The Senior Accounting Manager at Bristol Industries provides strategic direction, coordination, and management of the company's accounting functions. They oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, project account, cash management, tax, and fixed assets. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Manage the implementation and oversight of internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to maintain accurate financial records, reduce costs and maintain staff. Be a key contributor in the implementation and management of Bristol’s accounting and payroll system.

  • Provide accounting support to meet Bristol’s administrative and operational leader’s requirements.

  • Supervise and provide support to Accounting Supervisors and key contributors, including but not limited to the Payroll Supervisor, AP Supervisor, AR & GL Accountants, Project Accounting Specialist, and Sr. Tax Analyst.

  • Manage cash inflows and outflows, including the management of bank accounts and access via the bank system portal.

  • Overseeing payroll tax compliance, managing complex multi-state tax issues, ensuring accurate collection and remittance of sales taxes, and complying with business and occupation (B&O) tax requirements. Oversee staying updated on evolving tax laws and providing recommendations for compliance and optimization. Additionally, take ownership and lead the effort in resolving tax disputes, improve tax-related processes and systems, manage tax audits, monitor compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address tax implications.

  • Complete monthly work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, per diem audits, and financial analysis.

  • Produce monthly financial reports for the CEO/ Sr Director of Finance & Accounting, parent companies, and other interested parties.

  • Calculate and maintain indirect cost rates and perform related analysis.

  • Review and process weekly accounts payable payment files.

  • Develop the annual accounting budget and track adherence to budget.

  • Oversee annual audit preparations and completion.

  • Complete annual 8(a) update submittals, DCAA Incurred Cost Proposals (ICE schedules), SAM data requests, 941 to GL reconciliation, and profit-sharing contribution reconciliation/payment.

  • Facilitate annual insurance renewals.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership & team-building skills and develop and mentor accounting staff. This includes setting performance goals, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing team environment.

  • Consistently review systems, workflows, process and staffing to ensure operational efficiencies and accuracy of data.

  • The Sr. Accounting Manager should work collaboratively with other department heads to ensure effective financial management and reporting across the organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of GAAP, job cost, and government accounting.

  • Advanced skills in Excel and report writing.

  • Knowledge of enterprise level accounting systems.

  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, including data evaluation, statistical compilation, and report generation.

  • Knowledge working with multiple types of accounting and other financial systems, leveraging processes, workflows, and employee talent to maximize efficiency.

  • Skilled in collaboration.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

  • Skilled in advanced financial result consolidation, reporting, and implementation of accounting procedures.

  • Knowledge of DCAA requirements, including FAR 31 and ICE schedules.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general finance, treasury, forecasting, and budgeting.

  • Skilled with tax preparation or other compliance work.

  • Skilled with Alaska Native Corporations.

  • Knowledge of the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program

  • Knowledge of Unanet.

  • Knowledge of UKG Pro HRIS.

  • Knowledge of Spectrum.

  • Knowledge of Accounting system conversions.


Measures of Performance:



  • Living Bristol’s culture and values through the supervision and support provided to Accounting Supervisors and staff and to the Bristol leaders and staff (20%).

  • Set and meet accounting deadlines, with accuracy (20%).

  • Implementation and maintenance of effective accounting systems and internal financial controls, workflows, and effective employee labor management to increase efficiency, accuracy and reduce costs (20%).

  • Meet all tax requirements (20%).

  • Meeting GAAP, DCAA and Auditor requirements (10%).

  • Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner (10%).


Required Qualification:



  • High school diploma or GED is required.

  • BA/BBA/BS in business, accounting, or finance. Education and experience may be combined to meet these minimum requirements is required.

  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate accounting/finance and 3 years in a supervisory role is required. Experience may be substituted for supervisory experience but may require a leadership development program upon hire is required.

  • Experience with Alaska Native Corporations is required.

  • Valid driver’s license is required.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • CPA, CMA, or CFMA certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years working for a government contractor, with a construction focus, is preferred.

  • Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
