Travel: Occasional travel throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia for pre-bid meetings, site visits, and customer meetings.

Glazing Technologies Manufacturing (GTM) is an established and growing commercial glazing subcontractor serving Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. We specialize in Division 08 commercial glazing systems including storefront, curtain wall, aluminum entrances, windows, specialty glazing, and commercial renovation projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Our projects include schools, municipal buildings, government facilities, healthcare, hospitality, recreation centers, office buildings, and occupied renovations.

As we continue to expand, we're seeking an experienced Senior Glazing Estimator to lead our preconstruction efforts and play a key role in helping us win profitable work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating and preconstruction process for commercial glazing projects ranging from $25,000 to $2M+.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, delegated design requirements, and project documents.
  • Develop complete bid proposals, including clarifications, exclusions, qualifications, and value engineering options.
  • Review RFPs, bid forms, prevailing wage determinations, alternates, unit prices, allowances, bonding requirements, and other project-specific procurement requirements to ensure complete and compliant bid submissions.
  • Solicit pricing from glass, aluminum, hardware, and specialty product manufacturers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants and manufacturers regarding delegated design, structural calculations, and specialty system requirements.
  • Evaluate scope gaps, constructability issues, project risks, and opportunities for value engineering.
  • Develop labor budgets, installation strategies, equipment requirements, and project schedules to maximize competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and customer meetings as required.
  • Coordinate project turnover with Project Management after award.
  • Assist with subcontractor qualification and procurement.
  • Participate in bid leveling, post-bid reviews, and pricing discussions with ownership.
  • Assist with change order pricing and budgeting throughout the life of a project.
  • Track bid opportunities and maintain estimating schedules.
  • Support business development by identifying project risks, market opportunities, and strategic pursuits.
  • Help maintain historical pricing databases and continuously improve estimating processes.
  • Work closely with ownership on bid strategy, pricing, and project selection.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial glazing estimating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, aluminum entrances, windows, and commercial glazing systems.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, structural details, and Division 08 requirements.
  • Experience with manufacturers such as YKK AP, Kawneer, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE), Tubelite, US Aluminum, CRL, or comparable systems.
  • Experience pricing labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and self-performed installation work.
  • Strong understanding of prevailing wage requirements, public procurement processes, and government contracting requirements.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote work environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for project meetings and site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using GDS, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software.
  • Familiarity with ConstructConnect, BuildingConnected, PlanHub, Procore, or similar construction platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction contracts and subcontract agreements.
  • Experience estimating public, government, education, healthcare, hospitality, and municipal projects.
  • Existing relationships with regional glazing manufacturers and suppliers.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with security glazing, blast-resistant glazing, fire-rated systems, ballistic glazing, or other specialty glazing products is a plus.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annually, based on experience
  • Performance-based annual bonus opportunities
