WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Consultant, Communications Engineer for our Boston, MA office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To work in team for the development of rail transit communications design projects
  • Reviews regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design work
  • Prepares and develop engineering designs, specifications and construction documents
  • Stays abreast of industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation
  • Supports Task Leads/Project Manager on projects
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering
  • Preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Electrical Engineering, Communications or related field
  • Working understanding in security and communications systems such as access control, IP video, networks, cabling infrastructure, including fiber optic cable and other low voltage systems
  • Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with effective use and operation of AutoCAD
  • Knowlege of and familiarity with design process for Amtrak, MBTA and other local transporation agency
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications, IT or related field highly preferred
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or network certification
  • Intership or experience within an Engineering or deisgn firm in similar role
