This position ensures that all estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, cost report planning, and purchase planning efforts with all associated documents are in alignment with project success strategies. The position communicates plans and strategizes closely with the Preconstruction and Operations teams for the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) on assigned projects. Specific experience in mechanical building systems is preferred.

Key Accountabilities of the role include:

  1. Take personal responsibility for working safely within an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture.
  • Be a champion to support IIF efforts for working safely and building a culture of caring within the organization.
  • Maintain a relationship with safety take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of each person at your workplace.
  • Consistently communicate and reinforce the tenets of an IIF workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures that support an IIF culture.
  1. Coordinate MEP process to ensure timely and quality results.
  • Participate in process to plan, schedule, and coordinate MEP work on projects, as needed. 
  • Attend necessary MEP pre-bid meetings and commissioning meetings as needed.
  1. Continuous development of MEP technical skills through the mentoring of the MEP Manager and trade resources and provide guidance to project teams on all MEP systems.
  2. Review drawings, specifications and all other construction documents and communicate issues, accuracy of information, and potential risks with an emphasis on MEP systems.
  • Become skilled in reading and comprehension of drawings and specifications for the coordination of MEP scopes of work.
  • Become competent in the visualization of items not clearly depicted in the project, documents to resolve unknowns pertaining to MEP.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction the assembling and distribution of documents to MEP subcontractors, as directed by the MEP Manager.
  1. Compile comprehensive conceptual\/feasibility budgets with an emphasis on MEP systems.
  • Prepare accurate quantity surveys and system layouts.
  • Coordinate with the MEP Manager on obtaining equipment and material costs.
  • Produce input and ROMs as related to design teams, VE efforts or product development.
  1. Foster collaborative team environments among project participants.
  • Attend and participate in the MEP subcontractor selection process.
  • Employ skills (written, oral, and listening) to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Attend and participate in design meetings and contribute to the development of scope-of-work documents.
  1. Support MEP Trade Management as required during the construction phase.
  2. Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management.
  3. Establish personal agency regarding development of, streamlining new and existing processes, means and methods in area of expertise.
  4. Development of and presentation of MEP training to internal and external participants.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • History of progressively more complete and in-depth experience with proven results in MEP including:
    • BA\/BS in Quantity Surveying, MEPF Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or 5+ years in a leadership role in construction projects with an emphasis on MEP Systems.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam
  • Strong knowledge of standard construction practices and processes, construction materials, and related applications
  • Specific experience in mechanical building systems is preferred.
  • Developed skills with AutoCAD, and other 3D software.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Developed skills (written, oral, and listening) to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and logic skills to drive to the core of complex issues and provide insightful and constructive feedback.
  • Ability to efficiently accomplish and prioritize multiple tasks under time constraints.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful and lasting relationships. 
  • Ability to travel to job sites.
