WSP is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to join our Construction Services Group in the LA County, California area.
 
The Assistant Resident Engineer will assist the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required construction engineering work, e.g. field quality assurance assessments, processing information and submittal requests, coordination with utilities, and agencies, progress payments and maintain project files and other documentation as necessary to manage the project.   Tasks performed are of moderate complexity using professional engineering judgement.  This position has the potential for accelerated growth working with and learning from talented industry professionals.  Will also utilize Procore project control software and web based document storage to assist in maintaining the project document control system and associated logs. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Coordinate as needed with contractor and local agencies
  • Work with lead inspector to monitor quality of contractors' field work
  • Author meeting minutes
  • Lead the technical review of RFI's and submittals
  • Lead the project controls effort and maintain logs
  • Assist with review of contractor pay estimates
  • Assist with change order estimates and documentation
  • Assist with change order negotiations
  • Evaluate and monitor contractor force account requests and costs
  • Perform other duties assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering and EIT certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years in construction management of civil and transportation projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Ability to obtain California PE License
