As part of this search, we are seeking an ASSISTANT TRAFFIC ENGINEER for our ATLANTA, Georgia office for MAY 2019. 
Position Description: This position will be an important hire to help grow our Traffic Engineering practice. Position will report to Senior Transportation Engineer and serve as production lead for traffic engineering projects, with the expectation that the candidate will assume task management and basic project management roles within two to three years.
The candidate should have experience working in groups and have a desire to participate in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment as the traffic engineering group in our Atlanta office works closely with the planning, environmental, civil engineering and roadway design groups. The candidate should have initiative and a strong desire for learning and sharing knowledge.
The successful candidate will work on traffic engineering tasks and projects including performing intersection and corridor operational analysis, evaluating existing signal operations, signal timing analysis and implementation/fine tuning, recommending equipment upgrades, performing signal design and ITS design, actively managing groups of traffic signals through both field and remote management, performing Data Analytics / assisting with developing Performance Metrics and regular reports, evaluating Signal Performance Metrics to enact operational changes, managing municipal and state clients, developing cost estimates, signing and pavement marking plans, complete street concept development, and technical report writing.
This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing who has completed a BACHELOR OR MASTERS OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING with a focus on transportation engineering at an accredited program. The candidate will gain TRAFFIC ENGINEERING experience under direct supervision of Professional Engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Traffic Signal Timing with advanced performance measures and remote monitoring tools
  • Work on a variety of traffic engineering projects including:
  • Traffic Signal and ITS Design
  • Corridor Studies, Traffic Studies
  • Operational Improvements – concept development, simulation, cost estimation, alternative prioritization
  • Traffic Forecasting and Microsimulation Modeling for a GDOT MMIP interchange reconstruction project
  • Traffic Signal Timing and ATSPM
  • Complete Streets Design and Bike Lane Implementation Projects
  • Participate in community, civic and client related events, including professional societies
  • Develop technical expertise in your career focus area
