WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Engineer to support our Seattle, Washington office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design techniques for a small project of selected segments of a larger one
  • Capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying standard design techniques and procedures
  • Electrical calculations including electrical loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, selective coordination
  • Lighting circuiting and controls
  • Facility electrical service and power distribution design for 480/277, 120/208, and 120/240 volt classifications
  • Grounding design including system and equipment grounding
  • Motor control center (MCC) design including layouts, sizing, and motor starter selection
  • Standby and emergency power system design including generator and uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
  • Responsible for coordination with other design disciplines, including architecture, civil, structures, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, traffic, utilities, right of way

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • Two (2) years of electrical engineering experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of electrical construction
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • EIT or PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months
  • Experience in control system design or evaluation with knowledge of ladder logic, relays, limit switches and building systems
  • Communication design experience, including fiber optic and CAT 5/6 hardware/software application and configuration
  • Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 130 Standard for Fixed Guideway Transit and Passenger Rail Systems and or NFPA 502 Standard for Road Tunnels, Bridges, and Other Limited Access Highways
  • ETAP experience
  • REVIT MEP experience
