WSP is currently initiating a search for an Austin Traffic Group lead (Austin Traffic TEC Lead) our Austin, TX based traffic team.  WSP is a global consulting firm assisting public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain thousands of critical infrastructure projects around the world.  This position will function as the task lead on major projects for TxDOT and local agency clients.  The Austin office has a long history working with local clients and vendors to develop cutting edge designs.  This position will continue this work by leading traffic signal, lighting, signing, pavement marking, and ITS designs for freeways, local streets, and intersections as well as traffic analysis and operations efforts. As the Traffic Group Lead for Austin, this position will also work as part of a larger Texas team addressing traffic needs statewide.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and technical oversight of younger technical staff
  • Business Development and Proposal Writing
  • Coordination with other engineering disciplines
  • Traffic Operations and Design Supervision and Quality Control
  • Traffic signal design and timing ITS design and operations
  • Signing/Marking plans and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design
  • Lighting analysis and desigm
  • Traffic engineering analysis
  • Operations analysis for arterials, intersections, freeways, ramps and interchanges
  • Technical writing

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in traffic engineering design and operations
  • Minimum of 5+ years of supervisor experience and/or Project Management experience
  • Previous experience with TxDOT and other local Municipalities including marketing
  • Knowledge of traffic design principles
  • Knowledge of transportation planning and traffic analysis tools
  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license in Texas or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • TxDOT Traffic Precertification’s (Series 7 and 8) or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering.
  • Experience and leadership with Design Build projects
