Job Description Summary

As a Vice President of Finance, Build-To-Rent (BTR) working for Taylor Morrison you will be in a strategic and operational role in which you will need to understand the business in order to help drive growth while balancing financial risk, collaborating with other BTR divisions and departments and directing a team of finance and accounting professionals.

What Youll Do

We trust that as a Vice President of Finance, BTR you will:

  • Ensure that BTR strategic initiatives and financial goals are competently developed/projected and achieved
  • Lead a team ensuring that accounting, control, audit and administrative duties are performed effectively and efficiently
  • Develop a detailed working knowledge of Company BTR forecasting and accounting tools
  • Assist with the forecasting and consolidating roll-up of all BTR divisions
  • Utilize complex formulaic spreadsheet knowledge to enhance forecasting tools and processes

  • Oversee all joint venture (JV) structural and reporting requirements for Taylor Morrison and financial partners ensuring proper Legal and Accounting compliance
  • Review and approve JV capital contributions
  • Develop BTR best practice financial templates and deliverables to manage performance versus established BTR business goals
  • Ensure that financial information is accurately developed, analyzed and reported to the BTR team and senior management
  • Work with Corporate Treasury to understand lender debt arrangements and incorporate terms into the BTR forecast
  • Review proforma underwriting for BTR land purchases to be presented to the Asset Committee for approval
  • Review actual monthly reporting with comparisons against forecast assumptions understanding key drivers of the business and noteworthy variances
  • Participate with third-party property management company to understand rental community operations and financial drivers that generate net operating income (NOI), cap rates and exit valuations
  • Assist in processes related to property sales
  • Act as conduit between BTR operations and centralized Corporate disciplines regarding issues that impact financial performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with homebuilding and multi-family market drivers and modeling inputs
  • Ability to review and understand property management-generated financial statements
  • Multi-family asset sale experience
  • One Stream, Newstar, Power BI and other company technologies
  • Prior experience coordinating with private equity partners and related JV financials

  • Experience with lender debt facilities
  • Ability to prepare complicated modeling efforts without significant support
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work well in an office environment

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA required
  • 8+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting working for a public or private homebuilder
  • Knowledge of cost accounting in the homebuilding/construction industry required
  • Advanced proficiency with finance and accounting systems and software, including Excel
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and training accounting/finance personnel

FLSA Status: Exempt

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
