Building Performance Analyst / Energy Modeler

WSP, an award‑winning and innovative multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Building Performance Analyst / Energy Modeler to join Built Ecology, our growing sustainability and high-performance consulting team in our Boulder, CO Office.
  
Built Ecology provides a broad range of services including sustainability consulting, high-performance design and analysis, building and master plan certification, sustainability master planning, resiliency and integrated design management. Built Ecology has been directly responsible for driving many globally leading projects, including LEED Platinum buildings, Living Building/Community Challenge buildings and institutional campuses, WELL Building Standard commercial buildings and interiors, restorative (net positive energy, water and waste) projects, EcoDistricts, etc. Our solutions are innovative, integrated, practical and economical.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Undertake whole building energy modeling and design analysis for high performance metrics, LEED, code, etc.
  • Perform daylight and CFD modeling
  • Research new and existing technologies for application in the built environment
  • Interpret climate information and building use typologies to inform building design strategies
  • Write reports detailing analysis activities and design advice
  • Liaise internally to facilitate the achievement of project sustainability objectives
  • Review building documentation for the integration of high performance design aspects
  • Provide LEED strategy and advice, particularly around energy and IEQ aspects
  • Deliver high performance design analysis and project design advice of a high technical standard, integrated across architecture and building systems

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications and Experience:</div> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in a building design related discipline that could include: Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or similar</li> <li>2-5+ years of energy modeling experience for high-performance project, building certification (i.e. LEED, Passive House, net-zero, EnergyStar, etc.), and code compliance</li> <li>Ability to independently read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings</li> <li>Familiarity with IECC and ASHRAE requirements and energy modeling protocols</li> <li>Knowledge of mechanical system architecture and components</li> <li>Experience with OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, IES-VE, or eQuest</li> <li>LEED Green Associate</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications and Experience</div> <ul> <li>Scripting skills are a plus, e.g. Python, Grasshopper, Ruby, C#</li> <li>Qualifications to become Professional Engineer or Registered Architect a plus</li> <li>LEED Accredited Professional</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div><strong>About WSP USA </strong></div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms. Dedicated to serving local communities, we are engineers, planners, technical experts, strategic advisors and construction management professionals. WSP USA designs lasting solutions in the transportation, buildings, energy, water and environment sectors.
