We are currently seeking a motivated, team-oriented Civil Engineer to support growth within our group. Bristol’s current workload consists of planning, design, and construction inspection and management projects throughout Alaska and the Lower 48. Our staff development model is aimed at maximizing potential by engaging staff in all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assigns tasks to and directs engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
  • Leads or assists with proposals to provide professional services.
  • Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
  • Performs reviews of Level I & II Civil Engineer’s work products.
  • Receives general direction on key objectives.
  • Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems.
  • Travel to remote project sites.

The position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering plus 3 to 10 years in civil design work.

Other desirable qualifications include experience developing preliminary engineering reports, hydrological drainage studies, experience with transportation or utility infrastructure (or both), and permitting. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D desired, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Project. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Special Requirements/Certifications

Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is required, Alaskan PE is desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Light physical workload.
  • Employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Specific physical requirements include, but are not limited to, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker is subject to a variety of physical conditions – proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to arctic working conditions or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions – fumes, odors, dusts, mist, gases or poor ventilation.
