Bristol Engineering Services Corporation, LLC is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer II in our Anchorage, AK office. The incumbent will apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area, manage day-to-day activities on small and moderately sized projects, design a complete project, and prepare complete project documents.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services.
  • Prepares permit applications.
  • Coordinates with public and regulators.
  • Occasionally interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
  • Receives instruction on specific objectives.
  • Receives a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
  • Travel to remote project sites.

Required Knowledge or Skills

  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. 
  • Basic understanding of the design process and proficient in modeling software.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to facilitate public meetings (public speaking).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist and communicate with other staff and occasionally clients and contractors.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and AutoCAD skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and perform field work away from direct supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations in adverse arctic weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

Preferred Knowledge or Skills

  • Understanding of civil construction techniques and sequencing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS.

Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Three years recent experience in Civil Engineering.
