WSP USA has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer II for our Miami, Florida office! This position is for an experienced civil designer that will be asked to lead the design and production efforts on local municipal projects and pursuits.  Key elements of the position include working through production related tasks and providing solutions as it applies to municipal projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and possesses good communication and organization skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the following tasks: 
  • Understanding the submittal and development requirements of local municipalities
  • Experience in laying out underground utilities including stormwater, water, sewer and irrigation systems
  • Experience in working with municipal agencies in satisfying concerns during internal review.
  • Applying design criteria as it applies to local municipal projects following current regulatory guidelines
  • Perform technical activities for municipal projects under the supervision of a Project Manager and/or Senior Engineer. Responsibilities include involvement in plans production efforts using Autodesk CADD software for plans production as follows:
    • Design efforts described above
    • Electronic delivery systems
    • Electronic quantity calculations
    • Preparation of plans for submittals
    • Writing letters, reports and preparing exhibits for reporting as well as providing calculations for use in such reports;
    • Preparing permit packages and assembling data associated with their submittal
    • Developing roll plots for presentations and design-build proposal packages

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents
  • Engineer Intern (EI) designation or ability to obtain registration within a 2-year timeframe
  • Autodesk proficiency required (Civil 3D experience in roadway and site development design)
  • Proficiencies and relevant experience in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Affiliation(s) with professional societies
  • Previous municipal experience
  • Experience with permitting agencies
