WSP is currently initiating a search for a Cloud Support Specialist for our Sacramento, CA office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
oCloud Support: Develop, document, and implement processes and procedures for Amazon Web Services (AWS) operations that will improve customer service, improve response times, and reduce the administrative overhead. The incumbent is responsible for complex project, systems, and infrastructure initiatives for the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) such as ensuring the cloud strategy is efficient and secure. This position requires the incumbent to communicate effectively orally as well as in writing; conduct themselves professionally in dealing with other employees and contractors; develop and maintain knowledge and skills related to the position’s specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment; complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner
Primary tasks include:
Cloud Architecture tasks include:
Initiates, plans, directs and implements complex cloud infrastructure solutions such as virtual private clouds (VPC), EC2 instances, S3 storage, Workspaces, load balancers and CloudWatch within the (AWS) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud. 
Independently performs research to determine products that would best fit the Authority and its technical infrastructure. 
May perform in a project lead capacity for the cloud infrastructure team by providing guidance and training to other staff as needed. 
Systems Design tasks include:
  • Designs system architectures and security zones.
  • Plans for the integration and implementation of servers and applications into the AWS cloud infrastructure. 
  • May act as the lead for testing and applying new software updates to servers and applications. 
  • Performs research and provides technical guidance and recommendations regarding performance enhancements and new technologies to Authority management. 
  • Maintains expert technical skills and knowledge of current industry standards and procedures regarding cloud computing, cloud infrastructure architectures, and troubleshooting procedures. 
  • Develops high-level designs, specifications, and documentation to implement complex solutions such as system performance monitoring and logging. 
  • Conducts meetings regarding system design and implementation for technical staff to provide an understanding of how the infrastructure is designed. 
AWS Operations Support tasks include:
  • Collaborates with the IT Operations Manager to develop, document, and implement ITIL processes and procedures for the help desk that will improve customer service, improve response times, and reduce the administrative overhead.
  • Develop service level agreements, KPIs, and metrics.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of processes, systems, networks, and change control.
  • Implements and matures the configuration and management processes.
  • Participates in long-range planning and technical direction for the Program.

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <div> </div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in Computer Science or equivalent curriculum.</li> <li>3+ years of technical lead/management experience</li> <li>5+ years of infrastructure experience in virtualized cloud computing environments, preferably AWS</li> <li>Experience with cloud and on premise web application hosting solutions.</li> <li>IT Operations support experience in a multi-site mission critical or enterprise production environment.</li> <li>Hands on experience with Windows System Administration.</li> <li>Experience supporting virtualization, backup and storage administration, LAN, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.</li> <li>Experience creating system designs and architectures.</li> <li>Experience developing and documenting operational processes and procedures </li> <li>The ability to work in the United States immediately is required.</li> <li>Must possess the following active certifications:</li> <ul> <li>AWS Solutions Architect Associate</li> <li>AWS SysOps Administrator Associate</li> </ul> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications :</div> <div> </div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Analyze needs and product requirements to create functional designs.</li> <li>Consider the business implications of the technology to the current and future business environment.</li> <li>Prepare technical documentation related to the operations and maintenance of system components.</li> <li>Use structured approach to resolving system performance issues.</li> <li>Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Actively lead or participate in conferences, meetings, or presentations involving issues of considerable consequence or opposing views to achieve a satisfactory decision or compromised solution.</li> <li>High level of proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud computing platform including Compute, Storage, Database, Networking, VPC, Desktop & Streaming, Security, and Management Tools.</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
