The Construction Coordinator must possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated knowledge of affordable residential construction, building materials, subcontractor work, safety requirements and strong organizational skills. In addition, it is preferred that the Construction Coordinator had previous experience in working with and leading volunteers. Qualifications include proficiency in using Microsoft products and the adaptability to use management software. A positive attitude, capable leadership, and adaptability to changing priorities are necessary for the success of this position.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License/ Clean Driving History
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Experience in residential home building, experience with repairs and remodels a plus
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to use technology and Microsoft products
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Technical understanding of land and infrastructure design and ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
  • Ability to perform in a construction setting- lifting, climbing, working at heights, etc.
  • Ability to work weekends during new build season
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic mathematical aptitude to calculate building measurements, quantities, etc.

 

  • Manage onsite construction of new builds and home repairs
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, according to contractual conditions and within budget
  • Develop construction schedules, work with volunteer coordinator to plan volunteer construction activities. Communicate with volunteer coordinator on a regular basis on types and skill level of volunteers needed.
  • Ensure the safety of all volunteers on job site
  • Assure that HFHSC has all the necessary tools for construction and that they are well maintained
  • Ensure that all materials and tools are available at the build/repair sites
  • Obtain the appropriate permits and permissions with the city for current projects, work with the city on discounting permit fees
  • Bid out/order materials or solicit donated materials
  • Seek out subcontractors for in-kind donations
  • Inventory and check quality of materials delivered to site
  • Teach volunteers how to complete needed tasks
  • Assume responsibility for meeting applicable building codes
  • Schedule appropriate inspections for projects
  • Ensure all punchlist items are completed correctly in a timely manner
  • Attend groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies
  • Coordinate completion of all warranty work reported within one year of the sale of all homes
  • Coordinate all repair projects
  • Conduct walkthroughs with partner families prior to closings to address any defects or punch list items
  • Communicate weekly with supervisor on project progress
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for the Board of Directors and attend when requested
  • Coordinate and attend Construction Committee meetings
  • Direct and monitor subcontractors to ensure that their work is completed in a timely manner
  • Work with and direct mid-week crew volunteers on all projects
