WSP has an immediate Senior Construction Inspector opening, for statewide Maine bridge reconstruction projects, within the Millinocket to Machias to Deer Isle areas, with construction values ranging up to $10 million. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated construction inspection experience, with the versatility to monitor various elements of work simultaneously.   The senior construction inspector reports to the Resident Engineer.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities, as per plans and specifications.
  • Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
  • Quantity tracking or reconciliation and pay estimate review.
  • Monitor and manage maintenance of traffic.
  • Coordinate and oversee materials sampling and testing.
  • Coordinate or participate in construction survey activities.
  • May supervise other inspectors.
  • Other similar tasks as assigned.
 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years of  bridge construction inspection and documentation experience, or a combination of education, certifications and multiple years general inspection experience will be considered.
  • High School Diploma.
  • ACI Level I certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate of Science in Civil Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Technology or Construction Management.
  • Basic skills with MS WORD Suite.
  • Site Manager, Field Manager, APPIA, Bluebeam or Doc Express software experience is a plus.
  • Any relevant NICET, NETTCP certifications, or relevant DOT training.
Relocation assistance is not available, for this position. Mileage, lodging and meals are reimbursed, for project related travel.  This position is expected to be year-round, subject to weather events, and project shutdowns.
