WSP is currently initiating a search for mid -level Construction Inspectors for our Detroit, Michigan office.  Construction Inspectors for construction projects in Detroit/Southeast Michigan, working on MDOT, City, and County transportation-related projects throughout the state.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for inspection of contractor work on construction projects
  • Responsible for coordinating surveying, testing, and work of other sub consultant team members.
  • Responsible for working in all Michigan weather types
  • Responsible for completing daily reports
  • Must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week, possibly nights and weekends.
  • Must be willing to drive to projects.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 7 years of construction experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACI Level  I or Level II Concrete Certification
  • Current SESC MDEQ Certification
  • FieldBook / FieldManager Trained
  • Bituminous Paving Operations Training
  • Concrete Paving experience
  • Past experience on MDOT, County, and/or City projects
  • Surveying experience
  • Direct experience working for MDOT or another firm with MDOT exposure.
  • Engineering degree preferred
