Mid Atlantic Contracting is a premier GC serving the MD/DC/VA region.  We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and results driven  Project Manager to work alongside our Director of General Construction.  As one of the leaders of our team, the PM is responsible for preparing estimates, budgets, and pre-bid packages for our clients.  Responsibilities also include  preparing formal job bids through interpreting blueprints/drawings, performing take-offs and estimating job costs; and to interface with our clients and their representatives to ensure that technical specifications and designs are feasible and consistent with industry standards. Requirements

Position responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Interpret plans and estimate costs and quantities of materials needed 
  • Plan construction methods and procedures
  • Coordinate the supply of labor and materials 
  • Supervise construction sites and direct site managers and subcontractors to make sure standards of building performance, quality, cost schedules and safety are maintained 
  • Understand building contract documents
  • Control preparation of cost estimates and the documentation for contract bids
  • Control payment to subcontractors by valuation of completed works
  • Ensure that building regulations, standards and by-laws are enforced in building operations 
  • Consult with architects, engineers and other technical workers to make sure that design intentions are met
  • Visit job sites to ensure that the schedule is being maintained and there are no potential problems
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors, customers and other contacts to facilitate project activities and to gain future work
  • Invoice projects weekly
  • Approve invoices against specified contract dollar amount
  • Prepare proposals for additional job costs
  • Track and invoice additional costs beyond specified contract dollar amounts weekly
  • Assist with performance reviews for project coordinators and assistant project managers
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential skills and experience:

  • High school diploma/GED is required PLUS at least 10 years of experience in project management or a related field; OR graduation from an accredited university with a degree in Project Management or related field PLUS 5 years of progressively responsible experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Minimum two-years’ experience as a Project administrator/coordinator in the commercial construction industry preferably with a General Contractor
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Microsoft Project and Viewpoint software experience highly desirable
  • Intermediate skill level in typing and general office procedures and office machines
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, multi-task and ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Maintain high job standards and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment. MUST be a self-starter with ability to work effectively with minimal supervision as well as in a team
  • Knowledge of Construction terminology and Construction cost codes
  • Honesty, integrity, loyalty, and the ability and willingness to make the Company’s best interests the number one priority
  • High attention to detail and excellent proof reading capabilities 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality 
  • Must be able to prioritize workload 
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment 
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner 
  • Knowledge of all technical and administrative functions of Project Management.
  • The ability to communicate with multiple parties from Employee to Customer. 
  • The ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
  • Knowledge of safety issues and regulations.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem-solving.
  • Ability to coordinate own and others’ actions, manage own time and manage personnel resources.
  • Strong understanding and expression of written and verbal English sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Sensitivity to problems; ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Computer proficient.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is preferred 
  • Knowledge of Vista Viewpoint preferred
