The Construction Superintendent position oversees a construction project from the field to ensure the on-time and on-budget completion of each multifamily project. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three to five years' experience as a multifamily superintendent. Works closely with subcontractors, engineers, architects, the Director of Construction, and other stakeholders to ensure expected quality, budget, site safety, and timelines are met. Responsible for maintaining project timelines. Must have a high degree of reliability, ability to work independently, inspire trust, and work well with others without conflict. Must be willing and able to travel by car to construction projects in various parts of the state of Virginia. Salary range $90-$105K annually. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate on-site construction activities among subcontractors and other individuals/companies involved with the construction of a multifamily project.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor.
  • Supervise project safety and ensure all workers on site are complying with safety requirements and the project safety plan.
  • Assess adequate staffing of subcontractors and field work force.
  • Assess sufficient supply of materials and equipment.
  • Help maintain the construction schedule and provide information needed to modify the schedule on a continuing basis.
  • Manage all site and building inspections and closeouts.
  • Ensure that all fieldwork is being performed with a high standard of quality and in an efficient manner.

Working hours may vary, but customary schedule is Monday through Friday between 7:30 am-4:30pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of multifamily construction trades, multifamily building codes and accepted industry practices.
  • Possess/maintain valid driver’s license & driving record consistent with CHP insurability guidelines. 
  • A working knowledge of on-site jobsite safety.

 Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Junior College or Vocational education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous Multifamily field superintendent experience.
  • Must have a clear understanding of the construction process and hands-on experience managing projects $2 million or larger.
