We are looking for an experienced, talented individual to join Mid Atlantic Contracting as a Construction Superintendent. As part of our team, you be the lead crews in the completion of various tenant fit out projects, always ensuring a safe and efficient workplace. The perfect candidate will on-site coordination for all phases of our construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and jobsite safety 


Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities of Superintendent:

  • Provide professional and positive onsite representation for Mid Atlantic Contracting.  The superintendent is expected to engage in onsite dialogue, close observation, documentation and instruction in order to complete the construction process per all the design documents and using standard construction practice
  • Ensure needed materials are made available. Disposable items such as P.P.E, drill bits, blades, tape, sealants, small tools etc. are the responsibility of the superintendent to be well stocked onsite 
  • Submit material orders through the office in a timely manner and ensure that all materials and equipment are timely secured onsite per project plan
  • Arrange for loading dock access and coordinate deliveries. It is expected that an accurate material take-off be performed prior to ordering
  • Ensures and documents daily proper housekeeping as well as guaranteeing safety and health project plans are put into practice and maintained throughout the project
  • Oversee the onsite construction process to include organizing the workers to make certain that they are all performing well to satisfy the construction requirement
  • Mediate with inspectors and onsite owner/management on the customary requirements of the site with respect to safety, housekeeping, installation of contractual work, etc.
  • Track the construction process to make sure that it is completed on time, record the progress of the project and submit an end of week summary to Project Manager addressing, work completed, issues & delays and materials required in the upcoming weeks
  • Maintain and document daily quality control inspections to ensure compliance to the construction documents.  Ensure that additional required information is requested through the office using and RFI format.
  • Maintain several ongoing projects while complying with safety, quality and technical protocols and accept the responsibility of bringing a job from start to completion
  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, inspections, material deliveries, etc.
  • Monitor costs and performance against budgets and maintain project timelines
  • Ensure required labor and equipment logs, reports, and timesheets are submitted and coded accurately
  • Maintain and inventory small tools and equipment
  • Perform closeout, punch list, and quality management
  • Enforce all OSHA rules, MAC Safety Standards, and local policies/procedures to provide a safe working environment. Recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss.
  • Participate in annual reviews of field staff and the interviewing and hiring of field staff
  • Train personnel in the safe and efficient performance of their duties and strive to create a cross-trained organization
  • Follow safety and corporate guidelines, promote a strong work environment, and address personnel issues as needed to ensure harmony among workers
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers, vendors, crews, and internal organization personnel
  • Additional duties as assigned

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must have tenant improvement, ground-up, site-work superintendent, and 2+ years’ supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of all construction disciplines (civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical)
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently, meeting deadlines
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions and must maintain OSHA 30 and CPR/First aid
  • Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned
