Job Description


The Crackseal and Seal Coat Team Lead will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of seal coat labors daily performance. The Crackseal and Seal Coat Team Lead will perform tasks involving physical labor at parking lots by operating one or several types of maintenance equipment. This position requires routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties. The Crackseal and Seal Coat Team Lead will communicate daily the project status with key stakeholders in the project. In addition, the Foreman will ensure that all materials are installed per specifications for the project and all work is completed with Rose Paving standards.


  • To communicate daily with designated Project Manager assigned to a specific job.
  • Reviews street maps and estimates travel time to determine appropriate route based on location of site on job work order.
  • Prepares and thoroughly cleans cracks filled with dirt, debris and sediments. Applies hot pour cracksealing material using an oil-jacketed cracksealing system.
  • Measures length of cracks to verify compliance with contract.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
  • Take pictures of jobs (i.e. Warranties, Accidents)
  • Ensure that proper signage is displayed at each jobsite and jobsite sign pickup.
  • Make sure that vehicle inspections and pre-job checklist are being completed daily.
  • Maintain and enter data on Job Sheet for material, equipment and labor for job costing of Seal Coat operations on a daily basis including matching material with work orders.
  • Responsible for checking weather on daily basis.
  • In charge of appropriate traffic control at job sites (signs, barricades, caution tape).
  • Accountable for preventing the loading of company trucks that may result in overweight tickets.
  • Ensures that all materials are installed to manufacturer's specifications for product application.
  • Complete all work within Rose Paving LLC standards.
  • Evaluates situations and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crews.
  • Acts as a problem solver to reduce work issues, and/or assists workers in solving work challenges.
  • Estimates crews' hours requirements for completion of assignments.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to mee production schedules.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Confers with Project Manager in analyzing and resolving work problems, or assisting workers in solving problems.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activity of other fieldwork.
  • Builds customer relationships by introducing oneself to clients upon arrival to jobsite.
  • Operates within budgetary constraints.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies and submits to Project Manager for final approval.
  • Interprets company policies and cracksealing operating and equipment maintenance procedures. Maintains a service and maintenance program on all equipment.
  • Inspects and maintains all cracksealing truck and equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Completes minor repairs at the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Maintains frequent telephone or radio contact with Project Manager to receive and confirm work schedule instructions.
  • Directs workers in ground maintenance activities such as cleaning of grounds and removing litter, mowing lawns, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse, cleaning our drainage ditches and culverts, sharpening tools such as weed cutters, edging tools and shears. Removes snow from walks and driveways and spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
  • Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower and spreader,
  • Inspects and maintains physical condition of warehouse.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used materials.
  • Participate in company's employee evaluation program.
  • Enforces company policies to team members (i.e. Drug & Substance Abuse Policy, Sexual Harassment)
  • Encourages and initiates cross training when appropriate.
  • Participates in and monitors the training and on-going development of subordinate employees.
  • Creates a positive work environment through coaching, motivating team members in order to achieve departmental and work goals.
  • Investigates continuing education opportunities for personal/crew development.
  • Enforces personal and field safety protection while working (i.e. safety glasses, gloves, hardhats).
  • Participates in planning personnel safety and field protection activities.
  • Performs bi-monthly mandatory safety meetings.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have valid Drivers License.

  • Must have broad understanding of Rose Paving's business and proven abilities in the areas of preparation and installation of Seal Coating, and a thorough understanding of Rose Paving's other services in the areas of Cracksealing, Catch Basin Repair, and Parking Lot Marking work.

  • Must have ability to apply concepts of basic geometry. Must have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as measurements, weights, area, circumference, and volume.
