Director of Construction Operations – Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky

Position Announcement

IMPACT Strategies, Inc., (“IMPACT”), is excited to announce the expansion of its leadership team to include an experienced and innovative Director of Construction Operations (“Dir of Ops”) in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. This results-oriented relationship manager with project management expertise and business development savvy will oversee all operations, project management, client relations, business development, and, strategic planning for a new market.

Serving as the trusted leader, the Dir of Ops will guide staff and clients through estimation, scheduling, value engineering, constructability/feasibility, and all aspects of project and cost management. IMPACT’s Northern Kentucky Construction Division will focus on complex projects (ranging from $5 million to $50+ million), reflecting the same standards of trust and quality for which IMPACT has come to be known for in the Metro-Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri areas.

Reporting directly to IMPACT’s owners, IMPACT’s new Director of Construction Operations will . . .

  • PROVIDE ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP – Be the key manager of a new market for IMPACT Strategies that will deploy the IMPACT brand and culture of client service to this market. Serve as a key advisor to IMPACT’s ownership team and as a valued member of IMPACT’s leadership Team. Collaborate with ownership in the strategic planning process to guide future growth opportunities and to create value and solidify competitiveness. Evaluate and leverage market intelligence, client networking, competitor insights, client trends and evolving needs to provide creative, effective, and, strategic market leadership.

 

  • ENSURE PROJECT EXCELLENCE – Serve as each client’s trusted advisor from start to finish. From estimating and design to pre-construction and project management and through project completion, ensure that every client of IMPACT becomes a “raving fan” and possible repeat customer. Ability to grow from full-time project management to project oversight as projects and IMPACT’s team within the local market grows and expands. Partner closely with clients to ensure a high-level of satisfaction throughout the entire construction process.

 

  • WIN NEW BUSINESS –Develop and implement a strategy and process for identifying, evaluating and developing new commercial clients in the Northern Kentucky market. Serve as the “face” of IMPACT Strategies within the local market, including involvement with community organizations, economic development groups, and other professional associations. Proactively seek new prospects and build processes and talent to support business development. Be resourceful in identifying key decision makers and be strategic in opening doors. Identify best marketing, branding and digital strategies to support brand awareness. Engage internal resources in a competitively advantaged way to enhance sales process.

 

  • BUILD A HIGH-PERFORMING TEAM – Build a high-performing team of project managers and estimators to grow strategically in new market. Advocate and communicate IMPACT’s vision and brand to the local team. Model and coach on best practices in business development and client relations as well as in project management, project oversight and project communications. Lead, manage,and holdthe team accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments, and, serve as an approachable resource to drive team to achieve higher levels of performance and to demonstrate a track record of project success in new market.

 

  • MANAGE THE MARKET P&L – Provide oversight and review for all project-related financials. Partner closely with ownership to manage the P&L for the Northern Kentucky market.
 


Qualifications include:


  • Minimum of 10-15+ years of progressive project management and project team experience.
  • Strong team management experience including recruitment, employee coaching and performance management, and a hands-on team leadership style. Must lead by example and be willing to flex from strategic endeavors to day-to-day and boots-on-ground tactical leadership efforts.
  • Solid knowledge of commercial construction techniques and design. Ideal candidates offer strong knowledge of wood frame construction and concrete tilt-up projects and in all areas of estimation and pre-construction for private sector construction projects. Experience must include working for a commercial builder.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project requests concurrently along with excellent client-facing, interpersonal and communication skills a must-have.
  • Exposure or aptitude for business development and acquiring new business.
  • Solid business acumen, coupled with deep project financial expertise.
  • Prior experience in ownership of project budgets and/or division P&L a plus.
  • Strong technology skills, including familiarity with project estimating software (Timberline ideal), subcontractor databases (GradeBeam ideal), spreadsheet management, bid management, online plan rooms, and, a proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred.

  • Relationship Skills. A good presence that commands confidence and respect along with good listening skills necessary to create a strong rapport with clients, architects, design consultants, and subcontractors.

 

  • Communication. Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences and capable of articulating IMPACT’s mission, brand and services both internally and externally.

 

 

Position Location:

 

This position will be based in the local market (Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky). Upon hire, orientation and meetings with IMPACT’s leadership and owners will take place in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Ability to travel within local marketplace as well as to/from corporate headquarters will be required.
