Mortenson is looking to add a Director, Core Finance Operations to our team.This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, direction, and delivery of results for Finance shared services, overseeing the Payroll, Workforce Management, Union Administration & Reporting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable teams. This position is responsible for strategic direction and leadership across all responsible areas, including partnering with Operations, vendors, and other internal parties to deliver optimized solutions that will meet business needs and deliver an exceptional customer experience. This position will be expected to optimize and drive continuous improvements across all relevant processes, leveraging current (and future) technology to maximize efficiencies and drive increased productivity, while also ensuring an appropriate control environment across all responsible areas.
What you will be doing:
*Optimize processes across all responsible areas, leveraging technology to maximize efficiencies and productivity across various businesses and business models; re-engineer complex processes to simplify and improve the overall experience for all relevant teams and internal customers involved.
*Stay abreast of advancements in Cloud / other technology that could be leveraged to improve and / or transform Finance shared service processes; assess and drive the implementation of technological advancements, as relevant.
*Establish a culture of continuous improvement across Finance shared services that drives improvements in delivery, results, and overall customer experience across all responsible areas.
*Drive the development, implementation and continual review of robust policies, frameworks, and operational and service delivery plans to ensure effective management of shared service activities, compliance with all relevant legislation and policy and guidelines, and effective risk management.
*Provide operational leadership while supporting corporate business plans, related objectives, and budget requirements.
*Establish and maintain productivity and processing metrics that will be used to manage workload; provide internal operational results, KPIs, and SLA requirements; consistently monitor metrics and performance against established goals and requirements; utilize metrics to drive continuous improvements to results and overall service delivery levels across all responsible areas.
*Champion change management program associated with enterprise-wide finance transformation and ERP implementation initiative.
*Build, manage, develop, and inspire a team of direct and indirect reports in the achievement of business and functional objectives. Implement improvements to enhance operating efficiency and reduce costs.
*Ensure a customer service culture, including establishing and reporting on key performance metrics that measure and monitor the effectiveness and service levels of the Core Finance Operations teams.
*Develop, implement, and maintain system of effective internal controls within the Core Finance Operations teams to align with company policies and protect the business.
*Ensure compliance with all internal accounting and operational policies and procedures required to produce complete and accurate financial results impacted by areas of responsibility.
*Develop and grow strong cross-functional relationships with Operations Management, Project Finance Operations, other Finance functions, Business Service Groups, and strategic vendor partners to ensure the achievement of both Core Finance Operations and business objectives through collaboration, information sharing, and communication.
*Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

*Thorough knowledge of shared services processes / best practices, accounting principles, and internal controls.
*Process orientation mindset: ability to collaborate with Operations and other parties to optimize and re-engineer complex processes in a way that will drive efficiencies, increased productivity, and improved customer experience.
*Ability to focus on delivery and results by planning and executing agreed-upon strategies, consistently achieving shared services goals and the ability to look beyond the symptoms of operational issues to see the root cause.
*Broad understanding of interactions between Core Finance Operations, Project Finance Operations, other Finance functions, Business Services Groups, and Operating Groups.
*Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills (both written and oral).
*Experience with managing multiple shared services areas and utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and other performance metrics to drive continuous improvements and results.
*Experience in leading process excellence and performance improvement.
*Professional, business-driven mentality with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, as well as vendors and other external parties. Ability to handle confidential information in a discrete, professional manner.
*Ability to think strategically, manage uncertainty and risk, and balance multiple competing priorities.
*Ability to operate in both matrix and traditional organizational structures.
*Strong customer service orientation, with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical or financial information to a non-technical audience.

*Strong leadership abilities in managing and developing team members, with the ability to create clear goals and foster accountability / ownership, while encouraging delegation at appropriate levels.
*Ability to transform strategic goals into tactical project plans, including ability to track within defined timelines.Education and Experience:
*Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
*10-15 years of progressive operational accounting experience, including 5+ years leading a multi-functional shared services environment.
*Professional certification (CPA, CMA or MBA) preferred.
*Demonstrated track record of success in leading complex finance, system, or end-to-end process transformation initiatives in an environment that has significant shared service transactional activity amongst multiple business models.
*Demonstrated ability to optimize / re-engineer complex processes and drive continuous improvements / results across a broad range of shared service functions.
*Demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate vendor partnerships.
*Oracle Cloud experience a strong plus.
