District Operations Manager

WSP is currently initiating a search for a District Operations Manager for our Northern California District that includes San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento.
 
The District Operations Manager (DOM) will be part of the WSP District and Regional Leadership Team with primary responsibility for overseeing the successful delivery of the transportation sector projects.  The DOM will work with the Region, District and Area Management to assist Project Managers (PMs) in the successful delivery of quality projects in terms of both client satisfaction and preserved margin.  The DOM position can be based in any WSP Area Office within the Northern California District.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Support West Regional Management, District Management and Regional Operations Manager (ROM) by providing consultation and reporting, including reporting on potential issues that could impact project or cost center performance
  • Support the region Business Development Director with assessment of opportunities and budgets
  • Partner with Area Managers on all operational aspects of the business
  • Help develop action plans, and monitor high risk projects working with the PMs, Area Managers (AM) and District Manager to ensure successful margin preservation
  • Support, train and mentor PM’s to ensure the success of the project and client satisfaction
    • We see this as a proactive role through developing positive mentoring relationships where the PM’s seek out guidance and support before problems arise
  • Provide project and district financial analyses and coordination with West Finance Manager
  • Assist in the annual budget process to include forecasting, monitoring, analysis and recovery planning
  • Travel to district offices as necessary to perform District Operations Manager (DOM) duties
  • Contribute to the continual improvement and implementation of the Project Delivery process
  • Identify and implement opportunities for enhancement of overall project performance and project management practices
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the West Region Business Manager, District Manager and ROM
