We are adding a mid-level Drainage Engineer in Water Resources/Drainage Engineering to our New England team in either our Boston, MA or East Hartford, CT offices to support Transportation projects! We work on both conventional and design-build projects, for Massachusetts, Connecticut, and support other projects across the country. In this role you will be engaged in the hydrologic and hydraulic design and analysis of all aspects of transportation projects, including rivers, ponds, culverts, storm drains, floodplains and grading. You will prepare and review drawings for final design, construction, detour, and erosion control and prepare and review design reports. Prepare permit documents, specifications and estimates.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Drainage system design for transportation and related infrastructure
  • Design/analysis of storm drain and open channel systems
  • Hydrology and Hydraulics Analysis
  • Stormwater management
  • Bridge Scour analysis
  • Erosion control and Sediment Control design and permitting

The ideal candidate should have an interest in participating in multi-disciplinary Civil Engineering-Transportation drainage projects. The candidates will work under the direction of Senior Engineers on water resources and drainage design projects.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field;
  • 5 + years' experience with drainage design, water resources engineering and related functions as listed above
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation, Inroads, GEOPAK required
  • Professional Engineering Certification

Desired Software Experience in typical software used in water resources engineering design which might include some or all of the following:

  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • GEOPAK and/or INROADS/ OpenRoads
  • Stormcad/Civilstorm
  • Flowmaster
  • WIN TR-55 and WIN TR-20
  • ArcMAP/GIS a plus
