WSP is currently initiating a search for a Drainage Engineer for our Indianapolis, IN office with experience in the design of hydraulics, drainage systems and stormwater management for transportation projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the following tasks:
  • Perform drainage and hydraulics analysis and design for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare documents including reports, plans, permits, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Support projects by attending meetings and interacting with clients, agency officials, and contractors.
  • Lead drainage design teams and collaborate across disciplines to support a variety of roadway, bridge, and transit projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in highway drainage design and hydraulics engineering.
  • Work-related experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design of stormwater systems, including detention facilities, bridge and culvert stream crossings.
  • Familiarity with state and or municipal and collar county  stormwater regulations in greater Indianapolis area.
  • Experience in: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, XPSWMM, GEOPAK Drainage or similar H&H programs
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Experience in using MicroStation or Open Roads Designer.
  • Experience in INDOT or local road projects.  
  • Affiliation with professional societies is highly desirable.
