WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Construction Engineer for our Maspeth, Queens office.  The position will perform various duties in support of NYCT Bus Radio Systems construction inspections of communications equipment installations at project sites throughout NYC.  Work items may include utility relocations, electrical/power connection, communication device installation, commissioning & testing oversight.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform forensic investigation of issues encountered in the operation of Bus radio systems
  • Recommend solutions to resolve issues
  • Perform first article inspections and audits on parts and components to ensure compliance with specifications and standards for the BRS project.
  • Assist NYCT and vendors in the development of bus radio system installation procedures
  • Perform bus equipment surveys
  • Help develop installation, inspection, testing and commissioning procedures
  • Develop electrical/communication schematic drawings and as-builts
  • Perform quality assurance inspections.
  • Communicate with all project personnel including contractors, construction inspection personnel, client staff etc.
  • Monitor testing and commissioning activities.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Perform night and weekend work as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Knowledge of automotive, truck and or bus electrical systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and bus components.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with NYCT
  • Ability to utilize all electronic reporting systems
  • Current NYCT Track Training
  • Current OSHA 30 certification
