WSP is currently initiating a search for a highly skilled Electrical Engineer in our New Orleans, Louisiana location with strong experience in Inspection and Testing of Electrical systems and components. This role will support Electrical Engineering and Inspection work on current and upcoming transportation projects (bridges, highway, roadway, etc.) with LATOTD and throughout the state, with a focus on pump station upgrades and tunnel systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead inspection and testing for electrical systems related to transportation projects, including:
- Traffic Control systems including signage
- CCTV systems, Lighting and Fire / Incident detection systems, surge suppression and lightning arresters
- Switchgear, Transformers and Power Distribution
- Conduits and cable connections
- Panel boards and disconnect enclosures
- Generators, circuit breakers and voltage motor control starters and medium/high voltage cables
- SCADA systems
- Standby power supplies, UPS transfer switches and generators
- Data collection and reporting to determine if further testing or scoping studies are recommended or required
- Interaction with clients and project managers

Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering
- 7+ years of relevant work experience with transportation related projects such as highways, roadways, bridges, tunnels and related systems
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Strong experience with electrical inspection and testing equipment such as hand held luminance meters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, surge generators, over-voltage tester and articulated probes.
- Familiar with applicable ANSI, IES, NEC, NFPA, NETA codes and standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in elevated or confined spaces and lift up to 30 lbs
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- This role may be subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

- Experience with LADOTD projects
