WSP is currently initiating a search for Electrical Inspector for our Anne Arundel County office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Primary duties of an Electrical Inspector are to inspect electrical construction work to ensure conformance with contract documents and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written daily work reports, special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
  • Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of potential issues
  • Prepare estimates of extra work and related sketches and documentation
  • Review plans for constructability and prepare comments
  • Review contractor payment requests and provide comments to the Resident Engineer

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the latest National Electric Code, NFPA 72, Building Codes, testing criteria for all types of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Commissioning and Testing of Equipment
  • Knowledge of electronic controls and SCADA, fire alarm monitoring systems, fire suppression systems, building management systems.
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater pumping station and treatment plant. Some mechanical, civil, structural, maintenance of traffic and plumbing knowledge is beneficial.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies  
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or NICET Level II or III certification or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience inspecting construction work varied in wastewater pumping station and treatment plants.
  • Trained in minimum OSHA 10-hour construction safety, and fall protection, confined space and permit required confined space entry
