The PositionWe are seeking to fill an Engineer position. We are looking for someone to install, maintain, diagnose, repair, and alter HVAC systems, hot water tanks/boilers, control devices, furnaces (oil and electric), and fire extinguisher equipment.


The ideal candidate has: 

  • Proof of vaccination on first day of employment. Please read our vaccination policy. 
  • Four years of work experience working on Class 5 boilers desired
  • Four years of work experience in a facility or plant as an engineer
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record

What will you do?

  • Perform skilled journeyman level electrical and mechanical duties. Installation, operations, maintenance, diagnoses, repairs, and alterations of: 
    1. Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. 
    2. Hot water tanks, circulating pumps, booster pumps, and hydronic boilers. 
    3. AHUs, AMUs, electric heat staging varying in KW output. 
    4. Standard and high efficiency oil, electric, and natural gas residential furnaces
  • Troubleshoot controls and automation related to DDC Systems and HVAC equipment to assure maximum operating efficiency
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and routine servicing of systems equipment
  • Provide technical support, direction, and information related to HVAC/R equipment to other personnel if needed that directly relates to HVAC/R technician job description
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace ductless heat-pump and VRF systems
  • Work with different types of refrigerants, such as R-22, R-410A, R-134A, and others.
  • Troubleshoot repair, and replace all related HVAC/R equipment, up to 600 volts, using Ohms law and electrical test equipment such as advanced digital multimeters
  • Assist in ordering supplies and maintaining adequate supply of parts
  • Recover and reuse different types of refrigerants using HVAC/R testing and recovery equipment while following EPA guidelines. 
  • Setup and use journeyman level recovery equipment, such as manifold gauges, recovery machines, vacuum pumps, micron gauges. Ability to pressure test different refrigerant equipment using nitrogen gas.
  • Repair refrigeration leaks, replace compressors, and other refrigeration side components using industry standards.
  • Charge refrigeration systems, using weight-in method, using superheat, dew point or sub-cooling, bubble point.
  • Setup, calibrate, and use different types of test equipment related to HVAC/R, such as combustion analyzer to calculate flue gas efficiency on furnaces, hydronic boilers. Setup and use air flowmeters for measuring air velocity and CFM used for air balancing.
  • Read and interpret building HVAC/R equipment mechanical plans, blueprints, electrical schematics, and as-builts.
  • Perform highly skilled HVAC/R journeyman level maintenance including but not limited to following areas: adjust, calibrate, and replace analog, digital, and pneumatic controls for all HVAC/R systems as required.
  • Recommend installing new or replacing existing HVAC equipment, such as residential furnaces, exhaust systems, that do not fall under capital projects.
  • Troubleshoot hydronic boilers, on both water side and electrical/controls side.
